- <p> SCRIBBLE, SCRIBBLE, SCRIBBLE, EH, MR. MEESE? It was touted
- as a "behind-the-scenes account of what's really been going on
- in the executive branch for the past eight years," and its
- announced print run of 150,000 copies was that of a sure best
- seller. But Henry Holt & Co. has quietly decided to cancel
- Witness to History by Edwin Meese, Ronald Reagan's Attorney
- General. An editor at Holt says Meese has failed to produce:
- "The fact is, we didn't get anything. Time had run out. We
- decided to stop pretending." The $250,000 advance will not be
- paid.
