  17. <p>     SCRIBBLE, SCRIBBLE, SCRIBBLE, EH, MR. MEESE? It was touted
  18. as a "behind-the-scenes account of what's really been going on
  19. in the executive branch for the past eight years," and its
  20. announced print run of 150,000 copies was that of a sure best
  21. seller. But Henry Holt & Co. has quietly decided to cancel
  22. Witness to History by Edwin Meese, Ronald Reagan's Attorney
  23. General. An editor at Holt says Meese has failed to produce:
  24. "The fact is, we didn't get anything. Time had run out. We
  25. decided to stop pretending." The $250,000 advance will not be
  26. paid.
